Patricia Howard
Writer's Profile for:Patricia Howard

Patricia Howard says her work with the Lucy Calkins writing workshop has helped her view herself as a writer and loves the excitement of teaching creative writing. She credits Amy Oak and Mary Bolt as mentors for her writing. She enjoys seeing students who think they can't write, find out that they can, much like her own, as she describes it, "blossoming" relationship with writing. Patricia displays that with her 6th, 7th and 8th grade creative writing students at North Muskegon Middle School; she also teaches English Language Arts for 7th graders. Patricia earned a degree from CMU, majoring in science and minoring in English. She also has a Master's degree in reading from WMU. Personal narratives are her favorite type of writing which is probably why she has most recently enjoyed reading Frank McCourt's Teacher Man. Patricia lives in Norton Shores.
