Amanda received a Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University with a major in English and a minor in Psychology. She has both an Elementary and Secondary endorsement and is currently working on a Masters degree at Grand Valley State University. Amanda lives in Muskegon and has entered her sixth year of teaching. She currently teachers a variety of students at Muskegon Catholic Central ranging from grades 8 to 12 in Language Arts, American Literature, and World Literature. In addition to being an incredibly busy and diversified teacher, Amanda also finds time to be an experienced and dedicated mother of two.
Amanda enjoys writing and consistently made time to journal, although this has become a challenge since starting a family and attempting to also balance a challenging career. Her writing structure is often unstructured and Amanda views writing as an excellent opportunity to put thoughts into words as a mode of expression. These days, Amanda often finds herself writing a lot about her children and still tries to make time for the occasional short story or children's story. Amanda grew significantly in her writing in college, where she had a professor that opened her up to different types of writing and helped her to realize that writing can be an amazing form of expression rather than just work. Today she continues to find joy in both reading and writing, and often explores authors such as Jodi Picoult, Nicolas Sparks, and Karen King. These writers provide Amanda with an opportunity to escape from her normal rigorous pursuits and enjoy the art of writing.
