Karen Wahlberg admires her older sister, a teacher; thus, she knew relatively early that she wanted to pursue teaching as her own career. Her educational pursuits toward teacher certification began at Muskegon Community College, and she earned her Bachelor's degree at Hope College in elementary teaching and special education. Immediately following graduation from Hope, she was hired as a middle school special eduction teacher middle-year at North Muskegon. Karen anticipated teaching elementary children and felt some disappointment in being hired as a middle school special education teacher, but now she LOVES it! She says, "Middle school students are still impressionable, yet you are able to hold a somewhat mature conversation with them." Karen lives in Norton Shores with her husband and two children. She aspires to keep a journal and develop her love/hate relationship with writing. She enjoys reading fiction when not chasing after her dog, two sons, and husband.
