Jennifer O'Brien began her educational journey with a dream of something other than being an educator. She attended Grand Valley State University for an undergraduate degree; the idea was to earn a degree and find her passion along the way. While sitting in a college course one day, with a professor that she had really connected with, she though "huh, I could do this..." and the rest is educational history. Jennifer ended up earning a degree in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in English and Spanish.
She has been working as both an English and Spanish teacher at Muskegon Community Education for four years. She teaches English 10, 11, 12, and ACT Prep, and in her "spare time" she is currently working on her Masters Degree in Counseling from Grand Valley State University. The knowledge she is gaining in her Masters program is truly beneficial for her as she will soon be scheduling both teachers and students for the 2011-2012 school year, as well as scheduling herself to eventually take over the world.
Jennifer is someone who truly enjoys a plethora of texts; she reads Shakespeare, Austin, and the occasional cheesy brainless romance novel. Her love of writing was inspired by love of reading (and not the poorly written sophomore essays). Jennifer was pushed in an undergrad course to find her voice in writing, and finding her voice was the epiphany for her with writing. The rest is educational history!
