Terri Fortmeyer teaches 3rd grade at North Muskegon Elementary School, a school just a mile down from her house in North Muskegon, Michigan. Terri Fortmeyer graduated with a degree in English Language Arts and a minor in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University. She also holds a master's degree in reading from Grand Valley. Recently, Terri has expanded her role as an educator through the National Writing Project and now gives presentations not only to her third grades students but to English educators across the country.
Writing has always been a passion for Terri. Through the National Writing Project, Terri has found the time to delve into her own writing, which she does not only as a creative expression but as a cathartic experience, dealing with having all her children graduate high school and move on to the next phase of their lives. She reads the writing of Leonard Pitts, a Miami Herald journalist, who throws one line zingers into his writing that really keeps the mood light. Terri also sites Katie Wood-Ray, Ralph Fletcher, and Lucy Calkins as inspiration as well.
